How I Met Your Mother was renewed for a ninth season! Jason Segel had decided to not to do another season, but at the last moment he changed his mind. I’m kind of hoping the show reveals the mother at the end of this season, and we get to see her and Ted’s relationship in the ninth season, but who knows what the show’s creators have up their sleeves?
I agree that I would like to see the Mother reveal at the end of Season 8 and then spend the last season back-tracking, that may bring in newer viewers to start over from Season 1.
The two-part mid-season finale was one of the best episodes of the series. Not gonna lie, it was a tear-jerker.
All that above was written as a draft months ago, but I am so happy that they did show the mother at the end of season eight. There hasn't been a show quite like this one since Friends, and I'm sure it will be a bit of time before another show comes with the same quality.
